The temple at Kom Ombo was also built at this time, under Ptolemy VI. Since this bend in the Nile was a favored spot for crocodiles to bask in the sun and threaten locals, it is natural that the temple would be dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god. But it is unusual in having a double dedication: it also honors Haroeris, a form of the falcon-headed god Horus &back to cruise, lunch, free at leisure and time to relax on board the sundeck watching the great scenes on both banks of the Nile watching the daily life of people at Egyptian countryside (Upper Egypt),

Day 08: Edfu / Luxor Nile Cruise

Breakfast on board, a shore excursion by horse carriage to The temple of Horus in Edfu (best-preserved cult temple in Egypt )This partly because it was built later than most: in the Ptolemaic era from 237 to 57 BC. As built-in Greco Roman times. Horus was the god of the sky whose eyes were the sun and the moon. He became equated with the king, and therefore the King was Horus manifest. He was later assimilated into the popular myth of Isis and Osiris as the divine couple's child. Raised by Isis and Hathor after Osiris' murder by his brother Seth, Horus avenged his father's death in a great battle at Edfu. Seth was exiled and Horus took the throne, Osiris reigning through him from the underworld. Thus all pharaohs claimed to be the incarnation of Horus, the "living king."  The Temple of Edfu was abandoned after the Roman Empire became Christian and paganism was outlawed in 391 AD. It lay buried up to its lintels in the sand, with homes built over the top, until it was excavated by Auguste Mariette in the 1860s. The sand protected the monument over the years, back to cruise & sail to Esna, cross the lock, Lunch, enjoy the beautiful scenes on both banks of the Nile while you enjoy your coffee onboard the sun deck, and experience the sailing upstream the great Nile River, continue sailing  to Luxor dinner served onboard & live entertainment & overnight   (F.B)

The tombs are rich paintings and best-preserved funeral scenes on tombs' walls in the whole of Egypt, while probably the most famous is that of Tutankhamun which was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922 (this tomb sometimes open to the public). the funerary temple of Queen Hatshepsut " Deir Al Bahary " the only woman Pharaoh to have ruled Egypt declare herself as a divine person, and she is depicted in masculine form wearing a pharaoh’s kilt and artificial beard, finally visiting the twin Statues of 18 meters high Colossi of Memnon remains of the funerary temple of Amenophis III, end tour and drive back to the east bank.
