Walk through the sphinxes avenue, 42 statues of a lion body with a head of a ram. They are symbolizing the provinces of Egypt as 21 in the south (Upper Egypt) and 21 in the north (Lower Egypt).
The statues are made of sandstone, the same quality of stone used for the whole temple. Most of these sphinxes have been restored so they are in a good condition. It is easy to see and recognize the details of the animal face and the art technique.
Valley of the kings
It locates on the west side of Luxor and has two valleys, the east one where most of the tombs are located and the west valley has one grave.
Kings valley contains 63 tombs, most of them are in good conditions.
All royal ones decorated with scenes from Egyptian mythology, rituals, and texts from the book of the dead.
The beginning of the place goes back to the 18th dynasty so it includes the tombs of the three dynasties 18th, 19th, and 20th.
This site became a world heritage site in 1979. By 1922 was such an awesome discovery of the tomb of the boy king Tutankhamun.
Colossi of Memnon
Memnon colossi are quartz monoliths, 18 meters high. The king is sitting on his throne. The back plinth bears the royal names and titles in large Hieroglyphics. Both sides of the cube throne are decorated with the symbolic unification of Upper and Lower Egypt.
